Get ahead of the crowd when Norway's biggest rock festival kicks off for the fifth time on 20-22 June 2018! Don't miss out – join us for some serious headbanging heaven in Oslo, then command all you survey at Halden’s mighty Fredriksten Fortress.

Oslo Viking metal tour with Satyricon’s Anders Odden

Anders Odden

2 p.m. Meet at Aker Brygge Harbour
End:    Late at Olympen

Who better to introduce you to the Scandinavian metal milieu than Anders Odden, guitarist and co-founder of Cadaver and current bass player of the internationally celebrated black metal band Satyricon? We'll start this evocative cultural tour in Viking style, 'setting sail' across the Oslo fjord. At Bygdøy peninsula we visit the Viking Ship Museum to see the world's best-preserved Viking ships and incredible treasures excavated from Viking tombs. Continuing by minibus, we’ll take in a couple of key sights before alighting at the legendary Neseblod (Nosebleed) metal record shop. Here you’ll have time to explore its extensive black metal collection and meet owner/scene stalwart Kenneth ‘Gorgon W’ Anker Nilsen. Slake your thirst at Siste Sang pub, where you can taste the official Tons of Rock Black Pit IPA (brewed on site) and other craft beers. Scandinavian 'suckling pig' dinner at Olympen restaurant and beer hall, almost next door.

Price per person: 2700 NOK

  • Oslo guided tour through the eyes of Satyricon's Anders Odden
  • Meet the movers and shakers behind Neseblod and Siste Sang Brewery
  • Beer tasting and dinner (*drinks during dinner not included)
  • Boat trip to the Viking Ship Museum, metal sightseeing tour by bus

Board the metal bus from Oslo to Halden via Sweden.

10.00 a.m: Bus departure from Oslo City Hall
Arrive at Fredriksten Fortress late afternoon

Travel with likeminded people from Oslo to Fredriksten Fortress. We’ll make a stop in the summer seaside paradise Sponvika for a typical Norwegian lunch of shrimps or mussels, and board our own vessel to sail over the beautiful Iddefjorden – Norway is on your right, Sweden on the left.

Idyllic Sponvika formed a battleground between Swedes and Norwegians in ancient times, and the most infamous clash of the Vikings, the Battle of Svolder, is said to have taken place here (relics from Viking settlements have been found in the area).

We continue by bus to Fredriksten Fortress, and have a short time free before taking advantage of our VIP backstage access. Meet the people behind the festival, and join the club night until late.

Price per person: 1700 NOK

  • Bus transfer Oslo – Fredriksten Festning (Tons of Rock festival site)
  • Seafood lunch (food only) and boat excursion in Sponvika
  • Backstage VIP access, meet the people behind the festival
